Wonders From The Deep

Our seaside holiday windows are in!…..cabinets filled with vintage shell art, from seashell souvenirs to calcareous deep-sea treasures encrusted with periwinkles, clam and cone shells.

Victorian plinths display antique conch shells; carpets of clam shells are colonised by starfish, cowries and mushroom corals; and borders of whelks march in neat little rows.

All our wonders from the deep are for sale – so get yourselves, plus bucket and spade, to the seashore this bank holiday weekend. We’re open, as are our fellow seaside shop keepers.

She sells seashells by the seashore,

An outstanding antique shell-art convex fish-eye mirror, bristling with concentric circles and layers of cone shells and periwinkles – as if straight out of an eighteenth century Italianate shell grotto.

And finally, a stunning pair of amphora-like vases encrusted with shells and barnacled with deep sea calcareous excrescences, as if just brought up from an ancient wreck lost to the deep
