Our Wash Day windows are in and are strung and pegged with retro linens, cotton runners, lace-edged tablecloths and coronation tea towels. Appliqué bouquets and floral sprigs prettify napkins and place mats, and embroidered crinoline ladies wander hand-sewn garden borders and lupin stitched idylls.
Our pretty linens are all for sale, and charming for a garden lunch or tea-time table; as are our place mats and runners, when set atop a hall table or bedroom chest of drawers.
For an instant splash of colour, use potted retro chrysanthemums grouped together in a tub or large basin; and to make it affordable, look out for bargain trays of flowering plants at rural market-town weekly markets. No need to repot – just group en-masse in a large tub or in a deep basin.
